Natalie Sifuma is the Founder of Sisters in Climate as well as our Community Lead. In her role, she broadly utilises her background as a development strategist, leveraging communications approaches to drive our strategic direction and community growth.
Between 2017 and 2022 Natalie co-led the architecture of the Paukwa Stories digital repository, a narrative project designed to counter every day media stories and encourage a sense of pride and belonging for Kenyans. She was also the research and communications lead for all development projects at Paukwa, including curation of the Safaricom and M-PESA Foundation Reports (2020 - 2022), the research and story curation for the Hummingbird Tales educational project for East African children (2021 - 2022), and the design and production of the Changing Narratives Africa Podcast by African Food Changemakers (2022).
From January 2023 to October 2024, Natalie served as the Head of Communications at SHE Changes Climate, a global campaign advancing women’s participation in climate decision-making.
As a Consultant, Natalie has worked with Akashinga (Australia, US & Zimbabwe), Climate Breakthrough (US), Forster Communications (UK), SAIS (Germany), and The Rallying Cry (Dubai & Kenya). She has moderated sessions on agriculture, climate and women in Nairobi, Cape Town, Bonn and Dubai.
Natalie has been recognised for her advocacy, communications prowess and commitment to confronting environmental inquealities and the underrepresentation of women in climate-development policies. She has been featured on Devex, Global Climate News and The Climate Tribe as a thought leader on gender and climate topics. In 2024 she was awarded a Fellowship by the Aspen Institute in Colorado, USA.
